About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Handle a caseload of first-party and third-party Cyber and Technology claims from inception to final disposition
- Conduct investigations and analyze and evaluate claim information
- Analyze and determine coverage, liability and damages
- Investigate cyber security incidents and determine the cause of network intrusions
- Work with customers, law firms and vendors to mitigate cyber incident effects and coordinate responses
- Respond quickly to urgent customer needs during active cyber incidents
- Communicate written positions to insureds and other required parties
- Set and monitor expense and indemnity reserves
- Present cases to management for reserve authority above established levels
- Develop and implement resolution strategies through negotiation
- Manage litigation and counsel, including litigation planning, execution, budgeting and bill review
- Analyze potential extra-contractual liability
- Attend trials and mediations as necessary
- Participate in audits, projects, training and product development initiatives
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior claim leadership
- Collaborate with business partners to evaluate and address claim trends and developments
- Address agent and policyholder inquiries and provide customer service
- Provide training and marketing support to underwriters
- Attend and present at industry events on risk management and claims topics
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree required
- Juris Doctorate degree preferred
- Minimum of three years handling litigated coverage and/or liability cases as defense counsel or claims handler
- Experience specifically in Cyber & Technology, Privacy and Data Breaches, Media Liability and Professional Liability
- Proven track record handling Cyber & Technology liability claims
- Knowledge of both first- and third-party claims is a plus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent strategic thinking ability and execution skills
- Excellent negotiation and advanced technical claim handling skills
- Knowledge of insurance coverage issues is a plus
- Superior time, task prioritization and desk management skills
- Ability to communicate thoughts clearly and concisely, and to influence and persuade others
- Ability to work with only moderate amount of supervision
- Team player attitude
