About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead a team that produces and analyzes Homeowners rate adequacy regularly with clear visibility into key assumptions
- Collaborate with partners on assumptions for rate adequacy analysis and incorporate the latest information from all areas
- Develop innovative solutions to actuarial processes and enhance longstanding actuarial methodology using newer data science techniques
- Partner with the modeling group to prioritize modeling initiatives, investigate results, and communicate results with business partners
- Build tools and analytics using enhanced statistical tools, including R and Shiny applications, and the Homeowners data asset
- Use advanced analytics and modeling techniques to identify meaningful risk relationships and generate actionable insights
- Present results to leaders in Actuarial, Reserving, Claims, and Product
- Partner with Personal Insurance planning, reserving, ASM, Product, enterprise Claims Analytics, and Business Insurance Property Actuarial teams
- Guide state-specific Homeowners pricing strategies and decisions through rate adequacy analysis
- Support deployment and adoption of analytical tools with stakeholders and customers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Undergraduate degree with a major in mathematics, actuarial science or related field of study
- FCAS preferred, but open to candidates with appropriate knowledge background
- Minimum 5 years of property and casualty insurance actuarial experience
- Homeowners experience is a plus, but not necessary
- Knowledge of actuarial pricing techniques
- Demonstrated technical/analytical skills
- High proficiency in Excel required
- Experience with R/SQL preferred
- Effective oral and written communications skills
- Independently motivated and constantly looks for areas to add value
- Teamwork skills, including ability to effectively collaborate with and influence individuals at different organizational levels
- Results driven with commitment to meeting deadlines
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Candidates near Hartford, Chicago, or Charlotte offices expected to work in the office three days a week, Tuesday through Thursday
- Candidates not near an office may be considered for remote work with occasional travel
