About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute quality reviews by reconstructing Employee Benefits underwriting cases to validate compliance, regulatory standards, pricing protocols, underwriting standards, documentation protocols, and guidelines
- Perform targeted audits on emerging trends, areas of concern, and process changes to inform Risk Management practices and guidelines
- Complete root cause analysis on quality reviews and audit results using data from multiple sources, including independently run reports
- Deliver feedback to Underwriters and their leaders on Quality results, trends, and recommendations
- Support Strategic Reserve by underwriting cases during peak periods and collaborate with Underwriting and Sales to meet customer deadlines
- Identify learning opportunities and prepare and present training materials
- Lead or participate in strategic initiatives by providing thought leadership and expertise
- Function as an Underwriting Subject Matter Expert and stay current with guidelines, best practices, tools, and system enhancements
- Coach and mentor Underwriters and provide tailored consultations
- Manage time and workload efficiently while balancing multiple priorities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Technical underwriting knowledge and ability to underwrite Employee Benefit cases with limited complexity
- 3+ years of Employee Benefits underwriting experience required
- National Accounts (5,000+) and Regional Accounts (1,000–4,999) experience strongly preferred
- Detail-oriented and able to challenge existing norms using logic
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Solid understanding of quality evaluation processes/principles
- Ability to act with integrity and respect, maintaining confidentiality
- Ability to work across all levels and areas within the organization
- Ability to troubleshoot issues, research, and provide workflow-streamlining recommendations
- Ability to work independently to drive results
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong team-building and interpersonal skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
