About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Drive profitable growth for The Hartford’s $3 billion Auto and Home products portfolio
  • Analyze and evaluate actuarial pricing performance at the state level
  • Provide action-oriented solutions to Pricing and Product Management leadership
  • Develop state performance metrics, including actuarial rate indications, trends, loss development patterns and catastrophe loads
  • Support rate filings, performance monitoring, profitability analyses and ad hoc analyses
  • Communicate to secure internal and external approval for proposed changes
  • Create and improve analytical tools using advanced actuarial methods and technical skills
  • Provide actuarial thought leadership
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with product management, technology, operations, data science, actuarial, compliance and legal organizations
  • Participate in countrywide projects, class plan enhancements and maintenance of complex product features
  • Improve analytical capabilities, data capabilities, automation, documentation and quality measures

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in experience required
  • ACAS or FCAS credential required
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in insurance/financial service sector
  • Actuarial experience and familiarity with Personal Lines products a plus
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong Excel skills required
  • Knowledge of SQL, VBA, R, Python, SAS or similar code languages a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail with strong time and project management skills
  • Driven, intellectually curious, passionate, resourceful and creative
  • Proactive individual who challenges existing processes, influences others and drives processes to conclusion while meeting critical deadlines
