About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead in-depth business-process analysis to identify pain points and design value-added solutions
  • Develop and test proof-of-concept pilots
  • Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency
  • Map current-state and maintain future-state business-process flows of customer attributes
  • Oversee downstream operational processes for data exchange between benefit technology providers and The Hartford for billing and plan design
  • Ensure downstream billing processes meet financial, compliance, and audit expectations
  • Establish and maintain exception-management frameworks for data-related billing issues
  • Assess financial exposure and customer impact from data-exchange defects or processing failures
  • Establish processes enabling the plan design API and meet customer enrollment timelines
  • Manage process-optimization projects from concept through implementation within scope, schedule, and budget
  • Develop and implement change-management and communication strategies
  • Partner with Claims, Actuarial, Finance, Operations, and other corporate functions
  • Lead stakeholders through system enhancements, business-process decisions, and future visions
  • Collect and analyze Voice of the Customer and Voice of the Employee data
  • Support Group Benefit Operations projects, including validating requirements, staffing and expense impacts, and project status communication
  • Facilitate cross-functional teams and interpret customer and employee feedback
  • Advise leadership on process management, continuous improvement, and strategic business decisions
  • Define business requirements for technology, human performance, and vendor-management capabilities
  • Develop and monitor KPIs
  • Conduct root-cause analyses, process audits, and cost-benefit analyses
  • Develop and maintain process artifacts

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 3 years strategic project management experience
  • Minimum 5 years of Operations or Employee Benefits or cross industry experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Experience with Employee Benefits member data billing practices preferred
  • Experience with Employee Benefits plan design practices preferred
  • Business process optimization experience a plus
  • Six Sigma experience desired; green belt a plus
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills at all levels within the organization
  • Strong ability to manage complexity, ambiguity and multitask
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Able to build and foster strong working relationships; persuasive and able to influence others
  • Critical thinking skills and sound judgment; able to troubleshoot
  • Sound data analytics expertise with the ability to synthesize data and develop solutions
  • Business knowledge, financial acumen, and insurance knowledge
  • Strategic thinking, hypothesis development and analysis, and conclusion generation
  • Willingness to appropriately challenge the status quo
