About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and execute strategic and tactical business plans supporting Wholesale priorities and profitable growth
  • Translate Wholesale lines-of-business knowledge into strategy for internal teams and external audiences
  • Lead business case development, project execution, and delivery for strategic initiatives
  • Analyze financial performance across lines of business and use trends to shape strategy
  • Review countrywide results, evaluate field execution, and recommend or implement corrective actions
  • Develop recommendations to improve profitability, productivity, governance, and operational controls
  • Partner with Field Leadership on marketplace trends, broker dynamics, customer needs, and competitive pressures
  • Recommend proactive actions related to product, appetite, process, and go-to-market strategy
  • Lead technology transformation and capability-building initiatives
  • Drive disciplined execution, accountability, and accelerated business outcomes
  • Simplify processes, improve operational controls, and increase productivity
  • Build and lead high-performing teams with clear priorities and performance expectations
  • Lead cross-functional teams through collaboration and enterprise partnership
  • Influence stakeholders to align on strategic priorities, solve complex problems, and deliver enterprise and customer value
  • Report to the Global Specialty Head of Wholesale Property and Casualty

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 15+ years of progressive underwriting leadership experience across Excess and/or Primary Casualty
  • E&S and admitted market experience strongly valued
  • Demonstrated success leading large underwriting portfolios with P&L accountability and strong financial outcomes
  • Senior business leadership experience with accountability for strategy, financial performance, talent, operations, governance, and execution across a complex business
  • Experience leading transformation, including operating model redesign, technology adoption, workflow simplification, and change leadership
  • Strong commercial orientation and ability to identify growth opportunities, evaluate market dynamics, and make disciplined trade-offs across profitability, risk, and scale
  • Strong market presence and credibility with brokers, senior leaders, and cross-functional partners
  • Track record of building, developing, and retaining top underwriting talent while preparing successors for critical roles
  • Sound judgment and high ethical standards
  • Ability to make complex decisions with incomplete information
  • Executive-level communication skills, with ability to clearly articulate strategy, priorities, and expectations
