About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage claim professionals and corresponding claim inventories
  • Monitor and address reserve accuracy and trending using financial reporting tools
  • Manage and implement change, including explaining business-goal drivers
  • Monitor industry, marketplace and organizational strategic trends
  • Manage claim assignment based on claim complexity
  • Oversee claim investigation, disposition and settlement in compliance with company standards and statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements
  • Assess indemnity and expense exposure and set reserves accurately and timely
  • Manage claim resolution, deadlines and resource use
  • Interpret and apply insurance coverage
  • Apply claim loss-cost containment initiatives
  • Identify mitigation, subrogation and other recovery opportunities
  • Apply applicable statutory laws and regulations
  • Train, coach and develop staff
  • Provide advanced expertise and leadership to claim Team Leaders and handlers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of Workers Compensation Claims experience strongly preferred
  • Strong leadership skills in teaching, guiding, coaching and developing staff
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of medical terms strongly preferred
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Consistent and timely follow-through for customer needs
  • Strong understanding of reserve accuracy relative to claim exposures, including property damage and bodily injury
  • Extensive knowledge of customer service drivers and ability to resolve customer issues independently
  • Strong understanding of financial and operational reports for analysis and action planning
