About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive profitable growth through new customer acquisition, dormant account reactivation, and strategic account expansion within the Specialty Fuels business
- Develop and execute national territory and target-account strategies through prospecting, networking, referrals, market intelligence, and industry engagement
- Manage the full sales cycle from initial engagement through qualification, technical alignment, proposal development, negotiation, contract execution, and implementation
- Build relationships across technical, procurement, operations, program management, and executive stakeholders
- Expand existing customer relationships by identifying new applications, additional sites, cross-selling opportunities, and competitive displacement strategies
- Evaluate customer requirements, specifications, demand profiles, pricing considerations, and commercial opportunities to develop value-driven solutions
- Monitor customer demand, competitive activity, pricing trends, supply developments, and emerging opportunities to provide market and commercial insights
- Partner with Operations, R&D, Quality, Logistics, Customer Service, Procurement, Finance, and Legal
- Maintain accurate CRM data, account plans, opportunity pipelines, and forecasts
- Travel regularly to customer sites, industry conferences, trade shows, and other business-related events
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Required Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field
- Minimum of 7 years of experience leading new business development and complex B2B sales opportunities
- Proven success generating pipeline, winning new business, and achieving profitable growth targets
- Experience expanding strategic accounts and reactivating dormant customer relationships
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex sales cycles involving technical and executive stakeholders
- Strong commercial acumen, including pricing, margin, cost-to-serve, and business risk evaluation
- Experience with account planning, forecasting, CRM systems, and pipeline management
- Ability to identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities into profitable growth
- Strong consultative selling, negotiation, and relationship management skills
- Effective communication with technical, operational, procurement, and executive audiences
- Strong business and financial acumen with sound commercial judgment
- Ability to quickly learn technical products, applications, and specifications
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and opportunity management skills
- Self-directed with a high degree of ownership, accountability, and initiative
- Resilient and adaptable in competitive, technically complex, and evolving markets
- Ability and willingness to travel nationally up to 70%
- Preferred 10+ years of sales, business development, or account management experience in specialty chemicals, fuels, energy, aerospace, automotive, or similar industrial markets
- Background in specialty fuels, performance chemicals, hydrocarbons, or other specification-driven products highly desirable
- Experience supporting aerospace, defense, government, automotive OEM, testing laboratory, or industrial distribution customers preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience may be considered
