About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Help deliver the RMCoE national rural mobility programme in alignment with its business plan and objectives
  • Monitor emerging policy, legislative and technological developments in rural mobility and flag opportunities and risks
  • Build and maintain relationships with MPs, Mayors, government departments, local authorities and universities
  • Represent the RMCoE at events, conferences and stakeholder forums
  • Coordinate programme governance, including work programmes, action logs and risk registers
  • Track progress against programme milestones
  • Lead specific workstreams, communications and engagement activity
  • Develop reports, toolkits, case studies and webinars for local authorities
  • Organise and support online and in-person meetings, workshops and networking events
  • Share knowledge through newsletters, the website, social media and events
  • Work with the National Rural Mobility Centre of Excellence Manager, Transport East, local authorities, government departments and stakeholders

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience coordinating programmes, projects or workstreams
  • Ideally, a project management qualification or equivalent experience
  • Strong networking and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to distil information clearly for different audiences
  • Good understanding of national transport strategies, or drive to get up to speed quickly
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and maintain attention to detail
  • Collaborative approach and enthusiasm for working across organisations and partnerships
  • Political environment experience, local government reorganisation and devolution experience, or knowledge of the UK transport sector are beneficial but not essential
  • Supporting statement required; supporting documents must be PDF or MS Word format
  • Relevant posts may require DBS checks or police vetting
