About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support children and young people aged 2½ to 19 with complex medical needs to access education
  • Deliver medical interventions in line with individual healthcare plans, including medication, gastrostomy or naso-gastric feeding, oxygen therapy and tracheostomy care
  • Assist with moving and handling, personal care, and pupils’ daily hygiene, nutritional and developmental needs
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to quality assurance processes
  • Build positive working relationships with families, schools, care coordinators and other professionals
  • Identify and escalate safeguarding or risk concerns appropriately
  • Work one-to-one with pupils across Suffolk
  • Support pupils’ confidence, education access and safe participation
  • Complete application supporting statements and provide a CV as part of the recruitment process

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Suitable Level 3 qualification or at least 2 years’ equivalent experience in healthcare
  • Awareness and understanding of medical conditions such as epilepsy
  • Experience working directly with children or young people and their families
  • Good organisational skills and ability to keep clear and accurate records
  • Confidence working independently and knowing when to seek guidance
  • Willingness to undertake specialist and mandatory training
  • Genuine commitment to making a positive difference for children and families
  • Ability to support children and young people aged 2½ to 19 with complex medical needs
  • DBS checks or police vetting required for relevant posts
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults
