About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform a full range of repairs on light construction equipment, including skid steers, chippers, trenchers, and mini-excavators
  • Maintain a fleet of rental equipment and diagnose, maintain, and repair gas and diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, fuel systems, and brake systems
  • Review Down Equipment Reports and prioritize repairs and service calls with the leader
  • Obtain repair parts and maintain timely and accurate parts inventory
  • Document all equipment work, labor, and parts using the company technology platform
  • Perform tasks at store locations, company shop locations, and customer job sites
  • Deploy new equipment, perform PDIs, deliver equipment to stores, and train associates and customers on safe operation and procedures
  • Support rental centers and customers throughout the rental period, including equipment delivery
  • Maintain vehicle compliance with company, federal, and driver standards
  • Assist with equipment deliveries and pickups
  • Communicate with store associates, technicians, customers, and regional leadership
  • Typically report to the Regional Field Operations Manager; no direct reports
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be twenty-one years of age or older
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to diagnose and complete advanced mechanical repairs, including engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and understand technical repair and parts manuals for mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and other equipment components
  • Experience and ability to provide superior customer service
  • Working knowledge of handheld technology (smartphone, laptop, tablet)
  • Ability to operate in extreme outdoor working conditions
  • Valid driver's license in state applying
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience
  • Must continuously stand or walk and regularly lift/handle/carry moderate-weight material or equipment (8–20 pounds)
  • Technical or Trade School listed as preferred education
  • Experience repairing and maintaining gas/diesel engines, automotive or industrial equipment listed as preferred
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to convey complex or technical ideas and processes in easy-to-understand terms to diverse audiences
