About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maintain and repair light construction equipment, including skid steers, chippers, trenchers, and mini-excavators
  • Make routine visits to stores and customer job sites to inspect equipment
  • Document equipment status and complete maintenance and repair work orders
  • Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs
  • Inspect equipment for rental readiness, safe operation, and store appearance standards
  • Respond to service calls and order parts
  • Maintain accurate parts, fleet, and vehicle inventories
  • Transfer equipment between locations and deploy new equipment to stores
  • Perform pre-delivery inspections, deliver equipment, and train store associates and customers on operation and safety procedures
  • Maintain Mobile Elevated Work Platform certifications
  • Use company technology to document labor and parts for all work performed
  • Assist with equipment deliveries and pickups
  • Report to the Regional Field Operations Manager
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the leader

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must reside within 20 miles of Norfolk, VA
  • Must be twenty-one years of age or older
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States
  • Must meet DOT medical certification requirements
  • Valid driver's license
  • Associate's degree or equivalent degree in a field related to the job
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience
  • 1 or more years of experience servicing construction equipment, including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor mechanical repairs
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Light construction equipment maintenance knowledge and/or skills, including small engines and hydraulics
  • Ability to read and understand technical repair and parts manuals, including mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components
  • Familiarity with inventory management
  • Working knowledge of handheld technology, including smartphone, laptop, and tablet
  • Specific vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, plus ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to work in extreme outdoor conditions and adapt to weather, traffic, and unforeseen circumstances
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing, reaching, and stretching
