About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Maintain and repair light construction equipment, including skid steers, chippers, trenchers, and mini-excavators, at Home Depot stores and customer job sites.
- Visit assigned stores routinely to inspect equipment, document unit status, perform preventive maintenance, and complete maintenance and repair work orders.
- Train Home Depot store associates and customers in proper equipment operation and large equipment operating procedures.
- Maintain Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) certifications.
- Maintain accurate parts inventory in the vehicle or shop location and accurate fleet inventory.
- Transfer equipment between locations and deploy new equipment to stores, including performing PDIs, delivering equipment, and training associates.
- Inspect equipment for rental readiness, safe operation, and store appearance standards.
- Perform minor equipment repairs, respond to service calls, and order required parts.
- Use the company technology platform to document labor and parts for all equipment work.
- Assist with equipment deliveries and pickups.
- Receive regional direction when planning and aligning short-term and long-term goals.
- Report to the Regional Field Operations Manager; no direct reports.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the leader.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be twenty-one years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
- Must meet DOT medical certification requirements.
- Must satisfy the specified vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, plus ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to perform significant physical demands, including lifting, prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, crawling underneath equipment, climbing on top of equipment, and reaching and stretching.
- Must be able to perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements and occasionally work at heights.
- Associate's degree or equivalent degree in a related field typically acquired for the role.
- Minimum 3 years of work experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- 1 or more years of experience servicing construction equipment, including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor mechanical repairs.
- Light construction equipment maintenance knowledge and/or skills, including small engines and hydraulics.
- Ability to read and understand technical repair and parts manuals covering mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and other components.
- Valid driver's license.
- Familiarity with inventory management.
- Working knowledge of handheld technology, including smartphone, laptop, and tablet.
- Ability to work independently and effectively with different personality types and all levels of associates.
- Ability to operate in extreme outdoor working conditions and adapt to unforeseen circumstances, including weather and traffic.
