About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build, and support highly available, distributed payment orchestration services for omni-channel orders within Customer Order Management
  • Coordinate payment workflows including authorization, fraud hold management, reverse authorization, billing, and refunds
  • Integrate IBM Sterling, the order system of record, with downstream payment processors and tender systems
  • Develop resilient, event-driven microservices across GKE in Google Cloud and PCF/Cloud Foundry on-premises
  • Ensure accurate payment state management, high-volume transaction reliability, and ecosystem observability
  • Develop, test, deploy, and maintain software
  • Develop functional and destructive test suites to support rapid production deployment
  • Collaborate with team members in agile processes
  • Work with the Product Team to ensure user stories are valuable, developer-ready, understandable, and testable
  • Help grow junior engineers through guidance on modern software development frameworks and technical discussions
  • Troubleshoot and support high-availability production systems

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be eighteen years of age or older
  • Experience building and maintaining distributed microservices in a production environment
  • Hands-on experience developing backend microservices using Java and Spring Boot in a production environment
  • Experience designing and developing APIs and integrating with external enterprise systems
  • Experience working with IBM Sterling OMS, including configuration, customization, or integration
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging technologies (e.g., Kafka, Google Pub/Sub, or IBM MQ)
  • Experience building and deploying applications in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments, including containerized workloads running on Kubernetes/GKE
  • Understanding of secure application development and data handling practices in transactional systems
  • Experience troubleshooting and supporting high-availability systems in production environments
  • Bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience
  • Preferred: Strong experience developing and supporting applications integrated with IBM Sterling OMS, including customization, configuration, and enterprise integrations
  • Preferred: Experience designing and implementing microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs
  • Preferred: Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and cloud-native application architectures
  • Preferred: Experience with application monitoring, observability, and operational support using Grafana, log analytics platforms, and automated monitoring solutions
  • Preferred: Experience creating scripts and automation to support monitoring, alerting, operational diagnostics, and production support activities
  • Preferred: Experience troubleshooting distributed systems using metrics, logs, dashboards, and tracing tools in large-scale production environments
