Key responsibilities & impact

Lead a team of engineers building and designing customer- and associate-focused products
Create, deploy, and support production applications
Assist with product and tool selection, configuration, security, resilience, performance tuning, and production monitoring
Contribute reusable foundational code, architectural diagrams, and product documentation
Develop, test, deploy, and maintain software
Develop functional and destructive test suites to support rapid production deployment
Work with the Product Team to ensure user stories are developer-ready, understandable, and testable
Collaborate with team members in agile processes
Field questions from product and engineering teams
Guide junior engineers on modern software development frameworks and lead technical discussions
Identify team gaps and suggest improvements to increase productivity
Lead technical initiatives from design through production delivery
Provide technical direction, remove obstacles, monitor delivery, and ensure commitments are met

Requirements

What you’ll need

Must be eighteen years of age or older
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States
3–5 years of relevant software engineering experience, preferably within a large-scale enterprise environment
Strong backend development experience with Java, APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures
Demonstrated experience designing and building APIs from scratch, including contributing to overall application and service design
Experience with Kafka and/or Pub/Sub technologies
Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery
Experience with Elasticsearch and large-scale data storage, search, or retrieval solutions
Experience designing and supporting high-volume backend systems and databases
Experience supporting transactional or financial data platforms
Ability to design scalable systems for high availability, resiliency, performance, efficiency, disaster recovery, and security
Ability to lead multiple technical initiatives simultaneously and coordinate small groups of engineers
Ability to provide technical direction, remove obstacles, monitor delivery, and ensure commitments are met
Strong technical ownership and project leadership while remaining hands-on
Ability to serve as a technical representative across engineering, product, and stakeholder teams
Strong system design and problem-solving skills
Strong communication, collaboration, and conflict-management skills
Experience mentoring and providing technical guidance to engineers
Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, data modeling, CI/CD tools, modern software design patterns, debugging, root-cause analysis, testing, and version control
Experience developing technical roadmaps, estimating work, and refactoring or modernizing legacy systems
Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in a related field
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States
