About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Promote the energy efficiency program to end customers, contractors, manufacturers, distributors, engineers, architects, and other energy-efficiency service providers
  • Enter data into spreadsheets based on scopes of work and product specifications to determine energy savings
  • Review customer and trade ally spreadsheets based on product specifications
  • Educate participants about program benefits and use of technical resources
  • Foster trade ally relationships to maximize submitted project volume and size
  • Manage a project pipeline through the program database
  • Work with an assigned Project Coordinator to gather information and documentation to close projects
  • Manage field time effectively through customer or trade ally visits
  • Develop and deliver program presentations to increase project activity
  • Respond to customer inquiries and concerns by phone, electronically, or in person
  • Advise building owners, property managers, and facility engineers on energy efficiency and program participation
  • Understand the program’s strategic direction and customers’ business activities
  • Maintain a professional appearance representing the organization and utility
  • Provide written summary reports to customers and client/Program Manager when required
  • Collaborate with teams on continuous operational improvement
  • Conduct field work in indoor and outdoor environments, including potential exposure to extreme temperatures, fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vehicles, chemicals, high places, crawl spaces, and mechanical rooms

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • B.A. or B.S. in Business or Technical field or 5+ years’ experience in sales, account management, or similar
  • Experience working with energy efficiency or energy efficient products with a utility, government, non-profit or public agency
  • Ability to decipher technical jargon and effectively communicate those terms to individuals of varying skill levels
  • Ability to handle a high volume of clients and suppliers
  • Highly-polished communication skills—written and oral
  • Ability to transition quickly between tasks
  • Solid problem-solving capabilities
  • Creativity and attention to detail
  • Team player with positive attitude and ability to work effectively with different teams
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, occasional overnight
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Pre-employment drug and background screening
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or equivalent
  • Preferred: Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Certified Energy Auditor (Commercial) designation
  • Preferred: Experience in Commercial or Industrial energy efficiency, technical sales, B2B, or construction industry sales
  • Ability to travel minimum of 25%–75% of the time
  • Ability to perform extended physical field work, including standing, walking, occasional climbing, kneeling, and related activities
  • Ability to work for extended periods with personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to use repetitive hand motion
  • Ability to lift and carry appliances up to 50 lbs. occasionally
