About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and direct the Engineering function with responsibility for the CapEx process, technical cases, project management, and financial cost management
- Liaise with departments, subcontractors, and vendors to resolve design, manufacture, product acceptance, performance, cost, and quality-assurance issues
- Constructively challenge technical solutions and drive optimal, sustainable project solutions for applicable factories
- Develop the 1- to 3-year capital plan for the business unit in collaboration with the BU lead and Zone Technical Leader
- Scope project financial components and cash flow with the Finance department
- Lead technical peer reviews and adhere to the CapEx stage-gate process before project CAR submission
- Approve CAR documents when needed and present project CARs to executive approval committees
- Assign engineering design, program, project review, and job-release activities to technical project engineers
- Coordinate engineering activities, including the CAPEX Projects & Systems process
- Evaluate project options and trade-offs using analytical reasoning and critical thinking
- Incorporate EHS, FQS, and maintenance requirements into capital projects
- Develop and document improved processes, procedures, and standards
- Develop engineering staff performance guidelines and departmental and individual goals
- Evaluate staff performance against established goals and objectives
- Advise technical personnel and plant project engineers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school or related field is required
- Minimum of 10-15 years’ experience in engineering, project management and/or technical leadership
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders of the organization
- Food manufacturing background and desirable understanding of meat processing, cheese manufacturing and refrigeration overall
- Credible authority both internal and external
- Excellent knowledge of Kraft Heinz Operation processes and Engineering Playbook
- Ability to apply mathematical operations including frequency distribution, test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives across multiple plants/businesses preferred
- Experience implementing improvement strategies across multiple plants/businesses preferred
