About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Safely and efficiently carry out the duties of Lab Operator I with minimum direction and supervision
- Carry out analysis/test procedures for process control, shipping samples, environmental samples, mine samples, basic water analysis and other samples as required
- Use the lab computer system to update and maintain daily analysis data files
- Operate analysis equipment and perform routine calibrations and adjustments
- Calibrate basic analysis equipment
- Prepare routine standard solutions
- Assist in adapting present lab procedures to fit new requirements as required
- Maintain required laboratory statistics and records
- Understand and apply SDS information
- Recognize and identify discrepancies in analysis and procedures, and resolve these if appropriate
- Work in the Laboratory at K1 and K2
Requirements
What you’ll need- Post secondary education in a chemistry related field
- Preferably completed two years Industrial Laboratory Technologist Course from a recognized institution
- Preferably a minimum of one year related laboratory experience
- Understanding of refinery process sample terminology
- Working knowledge of at least one computer system (WINDOWS)
- Understanding of basic instrumental methods of analysis including Atomic Absorption, ICP-OES, Flame Photometry, pH meters, UV/Visible Spectrophotometer, X-RAY Fluorescence, FTNIR etc.
- Strong organizational skills while managing multiple demands
- Ability to work day, afternoon and night shift as required or on a rotating basis
- Ability to work effectively with a minimum amount of supervision
- Must adhere to relevant legal environmental requirements
- Must comply with OH&S requirements and in-house safety regulations
