About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support process control and process engineering improvement projects for both mills
- Learn process control fundamentals and troubleshoot daily operations
- Contribute to ongoing site initiatives and process optimization
- Perform fieldwork, data analysis, report writing, and database maintenance
- Learn and develop industrial process control skills to assist site subject matter experts
- Complete process control projects targeted at reducing operational variability and improving recovery
- Work with operations and process engineering teams to identify improvement areas and propose solutions
- Support circuit optimization through field checks, KPI tracking, and performance monitoring
- Conduct field checks and contribute to system validation for new projects
- Participate in behavior-based safety, near-miss reporting, and risk reduction initiatives
- Develop and implement online production monitoring dashboards using the PI visualization tool
- Communicate with management, plant operators, engineers, tradespersons, and contractors
- Participate in department and project-specific meetings
- Adhere to Mosaic’s mission, guiding principles, priorities, and key competencies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Pursuing a bachelor's in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or other applicable disciplines
- Ability to function in an industrial chemical and mining environment
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
- Ability to work full time and be a student in standing at the time of the co-op/internship
- Must successfully complete post-offer/pre-placement drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, and functional capacity examination
- Basic computer skills
- Eagerness to learn new skills and develop as an engineer
- Experience working in a team environment
- Physical work environment is occasionally outdoors with exposure to varying degrees of hot and cold environments
- Must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat to personal or others’ safety
- Able to lift approximately 0–25 lbs. occasionally
- Able to climb stairs and work at various heights
- Able to distinguish varying or specific colors, patterns, or materials
- Able to hear, with or without correction
- Able to read, write, and understand basic English
- Able to see, with or without correction
- Able to use fine hand motor skills
- Able to wear a respirator
- Must be authorized to work in Canada
