About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the enterprise AI Systems Governance Program across The Mutual Group and its member insurance carriers
  • Operate AI Systems governance across the full lifecycle, including intake, risk assessment, approval, monitoring, and retirement
  • Lead the AIS / Security Governance Team and execute AI governance activities
  • Establish and operationalize a shared AI governance model across multiple member insurance carriers
  • Partner with member organizations to understand AI use cases, align governance with regulatory and risk requirements, and support adoption of best practices
  • Provide executive oversight of AI risk assessments and governance decisions
  • Review and approve low-risk AI systems and escalate mid/high-risk systems to the CLO and AIS Committee
  • Oversee ongoing monitoring and validation of AI Systems, including model performance, drift, and bias detection
  • Oversee cybersecurity controls, IT general controls, risk register, and data privacy safeguards
  • Drive readiness for internal audits, regulatory examinations, and external certifications such as SOC 2
  • Oversee vendor-wide AI governance, vendor AI detection, and FactSheet review and validation
  • Lead AIS Committee engagement and Board-level reporting
  • Provide bi-annual updates on AI risk posture and cyber and technology risk posture
  • Oversee AI-related incident and anomaly governance, including coordination, escalation, and remediation
  • Establish unified governance across cybersecurity, data privacy, and IT general controls
  • Coordinate with technology and business teams and the Architecture Review Board
  • Build and lead a high-performing governance team, setting priorities and performance expectations
  • Employees within 30 miles of the TMG home office are expected to follow a hybrid or in-office schedule; initial training may require additional in-office days

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 12+ years in technology risk, AI governance, cyber risk, or enterprise risk
  • Experience operating in regulated environments; insurance or financial services preferred
  • Experience working in multi-entity, shared services, or multi-carrier environments
  • Deep understanding of AI Systems governance and model risk
  • Familiarity with NAIC AI Model Bulletin
  • Familiarity with NYDFS Cybersecurity Regulation
  • Familiarity with CCPA
  • Familiarity with NIST CSF and NIST AI RMF
  • Familiarity with SOC 2
  • Experience with vendor risk management
  • Experience with GRC platforms such as Archer, ServiceNow, or OneTrust
  • Strong executive communication, influencing, and leadership skills
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Successful completion of a background check
