Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop, implement, and manage multi-year strategies for cultivating and soliciting corporate, foundation, and institutional prospects
- Lead and shape a best-in-class corporate and foundation fundraising team
- Build relationships with new and current corporate and foundation donors and prospects
- Manage a portfolio of 30–50 corporate/foundation donors
- Complete 90–110 moves and at least 15 letters of intent or proposals annually
- Achieve an annual fundraising goal of $5,000,000 or more
- Increase Florida’s institutional fundraising pipeline, gift solicitations, and overall fundraising levels
- Translate programmatic funding needs into compelling institutional opportunities
- Increase unrestricted and flexible funding for Florida, regional, and global priorities
- Manage fundraising staff, including recruitment, retention, professional development, directions, and stretch objectives
- Establish and monitor individual and team fundraising metrics and goals
- Direct or participate in negotiations for complex, high-profile, or sensitive agreements
- Ensure compliance with TNC policies, procedures, donor/legal/IRS requirements, and ethical standards
- Set and meet fundraising objectives, evaluate results, and develop corrective strategies
- Lead collaborative, complex projects while directing staff, managing budgets, setting deadlines, and ensuring accountability
- Staff chapter leadership as a moves manager when appropriate
- Manage assigned trustee relationships and volunteer engagement
- Use the Conservancy’s donor database
- Provide stewardship through written reports, phone and in-person meetings, trips, and events
- Travel frequently and on short notice; work long hours and weekends as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree and 7 years related experience
- Experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with major donors and corporations
- Experience asking for and closing gifts of $75,000 or more, including planned gifts
- Experience managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors
- Experience with fundraising principles and practices
- Experience, coursework, or other training in current and evolving trends in charitable giving, particularly capital campaigns, major gifts, and planned giving
- Ability to design and implement cultivation, solicitation, and recognition strategies
- Ability to assess individuals’ interests, capacity, and potential for supporting organizational goals
- Ability to educate prospective and existing donors about appropriate giving vehicles
- Advanced knowledge of complex charitable gift planning
- Experience using listening, diplomacy, and tact to build relationships and motivate donors and volunteers
- Ability to negotiate complex, high-profile, or sensitive agreements
- Valid driver’s license and compliance with TNC’s Auto Safety Program
- Successful completion of The Nature Conservancy’s background screening process
