Director of Philanthropy Operations

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Direct the Florida Business Unit Development Operations Team in support of the annual Florida Fundraising Strategy
- Co-create the Philanthropy Operations team vision with the Florida Director of Philanthropy
- Direct donor engagement and events, donor communications, major gift management, and philanthropy operations
- Manage gift processing, fundraising and financial reporting, events and trips, research, prospect management, donor stewardship, volunteer management, and pipeline building
- Oversee operations of the Business Unit’s comprehensive campaign, including operating plan, timeline, deliverables, and fundraising targets
- Design, develop, and coordinate development operations plans and tactics
- Set measurable goals and metrics, build donor/prospect pipelines, and manage fundraiser accountability
- Oversee gift processing, prospect research, prospect assignments, portfolio management, and major gift fundraising support
- Track fundraising progress and produce reports for senior leadership
- Manage annual department planning and goal-setting processes
- Oversee events and event staff and create the annual events strategy
- Collaborate with development and chapter leadership to foster alignment, teamwork, and an inclusive environment
- Enhance team systems and tools, including AI, wealth screening, and communication tools
- Oversee non-direct fundraising activity during comprehensive campaigns
- Manage staff training, professional development, expectations, objectives, budgets, projects, deadlines, and accountability
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, financial standards, state and local regulations, and legal requirements
- Lead strategic initiatives and complex processes while collaborating with senior management, conservation staff, and financial/legal advisors
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree and 7 years related experience
- Experience in planning and delivering budgetary responsibilities
- Experience managing and supervising a multidisciplinary team
- Experience developing, managing, and implementing multiple projects and strategic goals
- Experience working across complex organizations
- Experience working with cross-functional teams across multiple organizational levels
- Experience, coursework, or other training in principles, practices, and procedures of relevant field
- Valid driver's license and compliance with TNC’s Auto Safety Program
- Completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, which may include a review of the prospective employee's motor vehicle record
- Ability to travel frequently and on short notice, work long hours and weekends
- Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated
- Experience managing a geographically dispersed team
- Expert knowledge of current and evolving trends in relevant discipline
- Understanding of best practices in non-profit management
