About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage a team of three direct reports, setting deliverables, supporting career growth, and ensuring high-quality analytics output
- Analyze audience growth, traffic drivers, customer journey touch points, and user engagement trends
- Partner with Product, Design, Engineering, and Editorial leads to set strategy, define goals, and build the audience and product analytics roadmap
- Lead the design, execution, and post-analysis of product experiments and A/B tests
- Advise on primary metrics and trade-offs between competing goals
- Make recommendations to evolve product offerings
- Translate complex behavioral data and insights into clear, compelling narratives and actionable recommendations
- Support The New York Times’ value of journalistic independence and mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world
Requirements
What you’ll need- 6+ years of experience in data analytics, with direct experience working with product or publishing teams
- 2+ years of dedicated people leadership experience managing analysts
- 5+ years of experience in A/B testing
- 1+ years of experience reporting on audience engagement, traffic trends, or customer journey modeling for a digital publisher or media organization
- Advanced mastery of SQL
- Experience with BI/data visualization tools such as Tableau or Looker
- Preferred: Proficiency in Python or R
- Preferred: Knowledge of the digital media industry or affiliate marketing
- Preferred: Quantitative degree in Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field
