About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage end-to-end monthly bookkeeping for a portfolio of recurring clients, including smaller businesses and organizations with multiple related entities
  • Own deposits, bank feeds, accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, reconciliations, and maintenance of clean, current books
  • Manage weekly cash-flow tracking and updates for clients
  • Audit client payroll and follow up on payroll tax items and discrepancies
  • Handle intercompany accounting entries and support consolidated financial reporting across related entities
  • Partner with outside CPAs at year-end, including preparation for 1099s, state apportionment data, prior-year corrections, and other pre-tax accounting support
  • Work in QuickBooks Online and client systems; learn new platforms quickly and produce accurate reports
  • Review other bookkeepers’ work through the quality-assurance process, identify errors, and coach team members on corrections and prevention
  • Train and support teammates and contractors, improve processes, and maintain standard operating procedures
  • Track time against client budgets, monitor workload, and communicate when work trends over scope
  • Communicate with clients, CPAs, vendors, and teammates while providing a responsive, high-service experience

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Demonstrated experience simultaneously managing a portfolio of 10+ clients is required
  • Experience in a multi-client Client Accounting Services (CAS), outsourced accounting, bookkeeping, tax, or CPA firm environment is required
  • Expert-level QuickBooks Online skills
  • Comfort working in and learning a variety of client systems, including expense, payroll, AP, and reporting platforms such as Ramp and Expensify
  • Hands-on experience with intercompany accounting, multi-entity environments, and consolidations
  • Experience reviewing other people’s work and teaching or coaching them through corrections
  • Strong organization, follow-through, and deadline management across multiple clients and competing priorities
  • Clear, thoughtful, written and verbal communication with clients and internal teammates
  • Strong service mindset and ability to go above and beyond for clients
  • Demonstrated career stability and ability to thrive in a small, fast-moving remote environment
  • Accounting degree, certificate, or relevant coursework is nice to have
  • Payroll, 1099, or year-end compliance experience is nice to have
  • Experience supporting small-business owners, nonprofits, or other service-focused clients is nice to have
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote setting while staying connected to the team
  • Flexibility, curiosity, and comfort with change in a growing small business
