About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide direct service in residential group care or transitional living settings
  • Provide personal support and supportive counseling to residents
  • Utilize tasks of daily living as instrumental treatment components
  • Help create a sense of permanency with a home-like environment
  • Identify needs or emerging needs and support physical and mental health wellbeing
  • Administer medication
  • Provide personal support, watchful oversight, and milieu management
  • Maintain a clean and organized facility, staff office, charts, and documentation
  • Attend weekly or bi-weekly program staff meetings and other meetings as necessary
  • Work under the supervision of the Program Director or Program Coordinator
  • Drive to meetings, trainings, agency locations, or occasionally transport clients and meet with clients offsite within the program service area

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Must become certified as Mental Health Rehabilitation Technician 1 (MHRT1) within 1 year of employment and maintain required trainings to uphold continuous MHRT1 status
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills required
  • Flexible schedule is required
  • Ability to work in a team environment required
  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background, child protective service check & sex offender check
  • Must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list
  • Must pass CNA registry check
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and TB screen
  • Must be able to exert moderate physical effort with occasional standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, driving, typing and frequently lift and carry material weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Driving may be necessary; being over the age of 21 and a good driving record is required
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent training in mental health preferred
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred
