About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead day-to-day accounting and tax operations, including monthly close, reporting, revenue and cost accounting, tax, and internal controls
- Lead reporting across four legal entities in the US, UK, Canada, and France
- Report to the VP of Finance and lead general accounting, tax, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing teams
- Set the close standard and calendar, driving toward a consistent close within 10 business days
- Review and approve financial statements, reporting packages, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Own multi-entity reporting as a controlled group, including transfer pricing arrangements and foreign currency translation
- Govern the chart of accounts and ensure consistent treatment across entities and revenue and cost streams
- Partner with FP&A on financial plan execution, owning actuals and department-level reporting
- Oversee accounting for product resale, software subscriptions, maintenance and renewals, cybersecurity, and professional and managed services
- Develop and own cost allocation methodology for gross-margin reporting by product and service line
- Collaborate with Sales Operations on accounting positions for new, non-standard, and judgment-heavy transactions
- Own the tax function, including federal, state and local income tax, sales and use tax, VAT, and Canadian indirect tax
- Manage multi-state and multi-country registrations and nexus
- Own QuickBooks as the accounting system and maintain general-ledger integrity
- Improve Salesforce-to-QuickBooks workflows supporting bookings, billing, and revenue recognition
- Design and maintain internal controls and prepare the company for its first external audit
- Own sales commission and incentive compensation calculations, accrual methodology, and reporting
- Oversee payroll accounting and reconciliation across four entities with People Operations
- Own the expense policy and spend management program
- Support diligence and reporting requests as the business scales
- Implement process improvements and controls across close, reporting, AP, spend management, billing, AR, and sales commission reporting
- Lead, develop, and mentor the accounting team
- Build organizational structure and role clarity as headcount grows
- Set team priorities and workload to meet deadlines
- Establish team norms, documentation standards, and cross-training practices
- Partner with the VP of Finance on capacity planning, structure, and hiring needs
- Reinforce a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including people management, with at least 2 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller capacity
- Demonstrated experience building or scaling an accounting team, including hiring, structuring roles, and developing staff
- Strong GAAP knowledge, particularly revenue recognition and COGS matching across multiple revenue streams
- Experience in a technology, MSP/VAR, or subscription and services-based business strongly preferred
- International, multi-entity experience strongly preferred
- Experience partnering cross-functionally with leaders, particularly on topics with financial and compliance implications
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks (or comparable ERP) and CRM-to-GL revenue workflows
- Experience with accounting system migration a plus
- Salesforce experience a plus
- Track record of owning and improving the monthly close process
- Experience supporting an audit, financial statement restatement, or transaction diligence process is a plus
- Strong communicator, comfortable with non-finance stakeholders, auditors, and outside advisors
