About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist with promoting, coordinating, and overseeing Christmas Kettle Campaign Worker staff and/or volunteer activities
  • Assist with overseeing Christmas Kettle campaign operations, including staff and/or volunteer scheduling
  • Assist with orientation and performance management of kettle worker staff and/or volunteers
  • Coordinate with the Christmas Kettle Coordinator on scheduling and respond to emergency absences
  • Foster and maintain positive working relationships with kettle sites
  • Coordinate daily delivery and pickup of kettles to and from sites, ensuring donation security
  • Deliver and pick up kettles in emergency situations
  • Host at a kettle as required to provide break coverage
  • Ensure kettle locations have adequate literature and supplies
  • Assist with transferring kettle contents into deposit bags for processing
  • Complete shift reminder phone calls and/or voicemail messages for volunteers
  • Perform other related duties as required
  • Uphold The Salvation Army’s mission, vision, values, code of conduct, and professional standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Completed High School or equivalent
  • Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience working in community-based programs would be a definite asset
  • Experience in office administration
  • Experience with general office equipment
  • Strong skills and experience using word processing (WORD)
  • Strong skills and experience using spreadsheets (EXCEL)
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License
  • Original copy of current driver’s abstract required for review and verification
  • Ability to lift/move up to 20 lbs. (11.34 kgs) safely
  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks, including The Salvation Army Abuse Registry and a Background Check screening
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, listening, problem-solving, analytical, organizational, adaptability, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced office setting
  • Ability to work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies
  • Ability and willingness to develop an understanding of and support for The Salvation Army’s mission and purpose in Canada
  • Flexibility to work days, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and split shifts Monday through Saturday
