About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Attend training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign
  • Provide support getting kettles to zone locations before campaign staff or volunteers arrive
  • Ensure donations are delivered to a secure location at shift completion
  • Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to the supervisor
  • Orient and remind staff and volunteers about proper kettle handling and duties
  • Supervise, support, assign, and coordinate kettle campaign staff and volunteers
  • Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently
  • Submit accurate timesheets and mileage reports weekly
  • Remain at kettles for the full shift until relieved and ensure donation security
  • Respond to donor questions about Salvation Army ministries and programs
  • Promote, coordinate, and oversee Christmas Kettle Campaign activities
  • Oversee campaign operations, including scheduling
  • Participate in recruiting kettle workers and volunteers
  • Provide orientation and performance management
  • Respond to emergency absences and coordinate staff schedules
  • Maintain positive working relationships with kettle sites
  • Coordinate daily delivery and pickup of kettles and secure donations
  • Host at a kettle as required to provide coverage for breaks
  • Ensure kettle locations have adequate literature and supplies
  • Record statistical data and prepare weekly timesheets
  • Organize post-campaign retrieval of equipment and supplies
  • Report directly to the Corps Officer

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Some high school coursework; completion of high school is an asset
  • Minimum of one year of related experience or working in customer service
  • Money handling experience is an asset
  • Experience in office administration
  • Strong skills and experience using Word and Excel
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License
  • Personal vehicle required and insurance required
  • Current copy of driver’s abstract required for review and verification
  • Ability to lift/move 9 to 12 kgs (20–25 lbs.)
  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully
  • Original copy of a Background Check screening required
  • Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for The Salvation Army’s mission and purpose in Canada
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, customer service, listening, problem-solving, analytical, confidentiality, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures
