About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the Christmas Kettle Campaign
  • Maximize volunteers and donations and ensure competent, compliant kettle coverage
  • Attend campaign and Salesforce training and review the Kettle Playbook
  • Coordinate kettle deliveries before volunteer arrival
  • Ensure donations are delivered to a secure location after shifts
  • Coordinate daily kettle counting volunteers and record revenues in the online kettle system
  • Troubleshoot Tip Tap issues
  • Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to Administration
  • Orient, remind, supervise, support, and assign kettle volunteers
  • Participate in recruiting new volunteers
  • Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently
  • Submit accurate, timely bi-weekly timesheets and mileage reports
  • Respond to potential donors’ questions about Salvation Army ministries and programs
  • Coordinate and attend special event kettle locations
  • Retrieve, pack, and store campaign equipment after the campaign
  • Package and ship returned Tip Taps
  • Follow up with kettle location contacts and prepare thank-you letters
  • Prepare an overall campaign report for the Officer
  • Represent The Salvation Army positively and professionally
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Some high school coursework; completion of high school is an asset
  • Valid driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle required
  • Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract required
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check required
  • Minimum of one year of related experience or customer service experience
  • Money handling experience is an asset
  • Willingness to understand and support The Salvation Army’s mission and purpose
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiastic team player
  • Ability to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20–25 lbs)
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure with changing priorities
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Ability and willingness to successfully undergo applicable screening and background checks
  • Most duties performed outside regular office hours
