About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support daily activities for designated national and international accounts as part of a multi-person account team
  • Contribute 60% of time to proactive media relations and influencer programming
  • Plan, implement, and manage client media tours and in-destination media visits
  • Assist with planning and conduct media familiarization tours, including possible international travel
  • Execute for-trade and paid influencer programs, including sourcing, contracting, and reporting
  • Understand and prioritize client objectives and anticipate needs
  • Write client collateral, including news releases, media alerts, photo captions, media pitches, bios, and fact sheets
  • Brainstorm and proactively pitch fresh story angles to relevant media
  • Develop and maintain relationships with journalists and social media influencers
  • Monitor social media trends and recommend channel usage to clients
  • Assist with meeting agendas, notes, and reports
  • Assist with account budgets, resources, and deadlines
  • Assist with client relations through meetings, conference calls, events, and general contact
  • Stay abreast of relevant industry news and trends
  • Act as first set of eyes on materials prepared by JAE/A

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must live in South Carolina
  • 5 to 7 years of communications experience in the travel industry; agency experience preferred
  • Must have 5 to 7 years of media relations and influencer management experience with demonstrated results
  • Established national travel and lifestyle media relationships, and skills to develop new relationships using traditional and digital tools
  • BA or BS in public relations, journalism, communications or related fields is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in AP Style
  • Previous experience coordinating media familiarization tours and/or desk side tours
  • Excellent writing skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Uses social media tools regularly and has experience integrating social media into public relations programs
  • Proficiency using Cision, MuckRack, news wires, and MS applications
  • Current passport and willingness to travel as needed for clients
  • Passion for the travel/tourism industry and ability to spot trends
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for visa sponsorship
