About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the subject matter expert and point of contact for individual disability income product compliance across the organization
  • Support product compliance for voluntary supplemental health products
  • Monitor, analyze, and interpret complex federal and state statutes and regulations
  • Assess business impact and communicate regulatory implications to stakeholders
  • Partner with business units to develop compliant solutions
  • Perform compliance monitoring, testing, and control assessments
  • Identify risks, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend remediation strategies
  • Draft, update, and maintain policies, procedures, job aids, training materials, and compliance guidance
  • Provide consultative compliance guidance for product design, implementation, and ongoing administration
  • Research complex compliance questions using internal and external resources
  • Support development and review of advertising and customer-facing materials
  • Support new business acquisitions and entry into new markets
  • Assist with contract language for new products, enhancements, and single-case filings
  • Lead complex multi-state filings and negotiate sensitive approvals with state departments of insurance
  • Participate in trade association calls and industry meetings
  • Monitor industry trends and provide feedback on new laws and product standards
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry contacts
  • Support internal audits and regulatory examinations
  • Organize documentation, respond to inquiries, and assist with corrective action plans
  • Deliver training, presentations, and guidance on compliance requirements and emerging regulatory trends
  • Partner cross-functionally to provide creative solutions while maintaining compliant processes and controls

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, legal, or related field; degree preferred
  • Professional certifications in compliance or insurance, such as AIRC or FLMI, preferred
  • 4–6+ years of compliance, regulatory, or related experience
  • Experience interpreting regulatory requirements and applying them to business operations
  • Ability to translate complex regulations into practical guidance
  • Ability to manage complex work, assess risk, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented environment
  • Advanced knowledge of individual disability insurance and/or supplemental health regulatory compliance environments
  • Experience with individual disability insurance or supplemental health product filings, including filing through the Interstate Insurance Compact, preferred
  • Experience developing training materials and compliance guidance, preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build trust and effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, work autonomously, and exercise judgment and discretion
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities

  • Must complete criminal background investigation and employment, education, and licensing verification
