About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop and maintain scalable, high-performance applications across backend and frontend systems supporting Disney’s digital platforms
Build Java Spring Boot services and APIs alongside Vue.js user interfaces
Partner with product managers and cross-functional engineering teams to define requirements and deliver end-to-end solutions
Ensure alignment with architectural standards, security, and engineering best practices
Drive code quality through code reviews and consistent development practices
Optimize performance and reliability through efficient data processing, caching, asynchronous workflows, and modern state management
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues
Improve system scalability, latency, and stability
Collaborate with DevOps and QA teams on CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring
Adopt new technologies, tools, and frameworks across backend and frontend ecosystems
Build technology supporting streaming, digital products, advertising, and content distribution

Requirements

What you’ll need

3+ years of full-stack development experience with strong hands-on Java, Spring Boot, and Vue.js or React experience
Proven experience building scalable, high-performance backend and frontend solutions for distributed concurrent applications
Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs and UI components
Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, JavaScript, and Vue.js or React
Solid understanding of microservices, dependency injection, lifecycle management, and frontend state/component management
Knowledge of backend and frontend performance optimization, including caching, asynchronous processing, connection pooling, lazy loading, and code splitting
Experience working in Agile, cross-functional teams and contributing through code reviews and engineering best practices
Strong collaboration and communication skills
Ability to translate business and design requirements into scalable, performant, and maintainable solutions
Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and detail-oriented approach
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Preferred: experience with relational databases, schema design, query optimization, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, CI/CD pipelines, distributed systems, event-driven architectures, Kafka, Redis, AI development tools, AWS CloudFront, S3, streaming workflows, video delivery, media distribution, or media/entertainment industry experience
