About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Drive personalization strategy for Disney+ and Hulu by transforming raw data into insights and strategic recommendations
  • Partner with personalization product teams, business leadership, and machine learning experts to evaluate recommendation system performance
  • Design approaches to measure success, test hypotheses, extract actionable insights, and develop algorithm recommendations
  • Lead the design, analysis, and interpretation of personalization experiments
  • Conduct power analysis and contribute code to advanced experimentation libraries
  • Perform post-analysis of complex questions using SQL and Python
  • Collaborate with data engineers and product management to address data consistency and quality challenges
  • Improve foundational datasets and instrument new product features end-to-end
  • Lead partners from data product and data engineering
  • Analyze platform performance, identify actionable insights, and present findings using data visualization tools and live presentations
  • Apply statistical modeling, experimentation, and causal inference to user behavioral data
  • Use AI analytics tools including Claude, Cursor, Snowflake Cortex, and Gemini
  • Inform personalization strategy for Disney Streaming

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, including 2+ years at a senior level
  • 3+ years of applied experience creating complex queries and analysis on very large datasets in SQL and Python, leveraging Snowflake, Databricks, or a similar data warehouse
  • 3+ years of applied experience with data exploration, visualization, and instrumentation in Looker or an equivalent tool like Tableau
  • 3+ years of experience with A/B testing, including power analysis, experimentation code libraries, metric selection, test design, and interpreting complex results
  • Familiarity with notebooking and scheduled job instrumentation in Python
  • Strong understanding of statistics concepts, including hypothesis testing, statistical power, confidence intervals, regression analysis, and Type I/II error
  • Ability to think strategically and interpret market and consumer information contextually
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with experience presenting to diverse audiences and managing strong personalities
  • Experience managing end-to-end analytical projects, including documenting requirements, setting deadlines, and delivering strategic meaningful impact
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in a related field
  • Preferred: Experience with product analytics, user funnels, and user behaviors
  • Preferred: Hands-on experience with advanced statistical methods such as causal inference
  • Preferred: Background in streaming media or subscription-based products
  • Preferred: Experience building agentic analytics tools
  • Preferred: Advanced knowledge of Looker
  • Preferred: Ability to manage projects requiring new datasets and collaborate with data engineering teams to improve data quality and build foundational datasets
