About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build and run a global engineering team based in Buenos Aires, Argentina
  • Serve as founding engineering leader for the Disney Financial Insights AI framework
  • Build and operate the AI/ML layer, intelligent data foundation, software workflows/orchestration, and natural-language experience
  • Shape team structure, engineering practices, and technical architecture from an early-stage MVP
  • Act as primary technical contact for finance stakeholders and cross-functional partners
  • Translate the platform roadmap into a shipped, governed, production-grade system
  • Set architecture and technical strategy for D-Fi's AI/ML and data layers
  • Serve as primary engineering liaison to finance business partners and leadership
  • Own the AI/LLM roadmap and build trust in AI-generated financial answers
  • Enforce role-based access control at the data-model level across personas
  • Establish practices for code review, testing, model evaluation, and release management
  • Guide build-versus-integrate decisions involving SAP, Cognos, EPM, Data Marketplace, NetDocs, Coupa, and Clarity
  • Partner with finance transformation leads to drive enterprise adoption

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years of software and/or ML engineering leadership experience
  • Strong track record of owning technical direction and architecture for complex systems end-to-end
  • Demonstrated experience architecting and shipping production LLM/AI applications, not just prototypes
  • Production experience with LLM application architecture, including RAG pipelines, prompt engineering, and context/retrieval design at scale
  • Working knowledge of LLM orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex, or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of vector databases/retrieval stores such as Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector, or Snowflake Cortex Search
  • Strong data modeling background, ideally including semantic/governed data layers
  • Ability to read, write, and review Python code
  • Working knowledge of a modern web/full-stack language or framework sufficient to guide UI-layer architecture decisions
  • Familiarity with MLOps practices, including model monitoring, retraining pipeline design, containerization, and CI/CD for ML systems
  • Experience working across distributed, cross-timezone engineering teams
  • Ability to serve as the primary technical voice with senior business stakeholders and translate between business and technical language
  • Exposure to ERP/EPM platforms such as SAP, Oracle EPM, or Cognos, and/or experience integrating custom applications with enterprise system APIs
  • Experience evaluating third-party or consulting-delivered engineering work
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree is a plus but not required given equivalent experience
