About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design and implement multi-layered distributed systems delivering reliable software solutions at scale
Collaborate and troubleshoot in analyzing and resolving engineering problems involving distributed services and APIs
Oversee service performance, scalability, and event planning requirements
Provide guidance and enforce development practices and processes
Review code and work with team members to ensure product and design specifications are met
Research and learn new technologies
Build and manage products and services supporting content delivery for Disney+, ESPN+, Hulu, ABC, Marvel, and Star Wars
Define platform capabilities and design and implement product solutions while balancing complexity, implementation speed, and expandability

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years relevant industry experience
Proficiency in at least one core programming language, such as Java, Kotlin, Python, or JavaScript
Experience with microservices and REST APIs
Familiarity with AWS and core services including S3, Lambda, and EC2
Experience with at least one database system: SQL, MongoDB, or OpenSearch
Experience with messaging technology such as Apache Kafka
Experience with software development best practices, including functional or object-oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms
Exposure to the full lifecycle of application development, including unit testing, code reviews, and documentation
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
B.S. in Computer Science or related field preferred
