About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop M&A strategies and decision-support analysis for senior leadership
  • Identify, research, analyze, and value potential acquisitions, joint ventures, investments, and other strategic growth opportunities
  • Support M&A strategy objectives, including tracking acquisition opportunities and all phases of transaction execution
  • Analyze industry dynamics and competitive landscapes for valuation purposes
  • Build, review, and present financial models, including valuation and pro forma M&A analysis
  • Perform and lead due diligence processes
  • Develop and communicate strategic cases to obtain corporate leadership support for M&A initiatives
  • Support transaction negotiation and closing processes
  • Assist in executing corporate divestitures
  • Support strategic planning and business development, including evaluating new business opportunities and developing M&A strategy
  • Work closely with and oversee Analyst- and Associate-level professionals
  • Provide competitive intelligence for senior management
  • Execute inorganic growth strategies for Thermo Fisher business units worldwide

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Undergraduate degree preferably in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Science, or a technical field; MBA preferred
  • Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in M&A, including acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, or investment banking
  • Experience analyzing and negotiating business transactions, including acquisition evaluation, modeling, and financial analysis
  • Leadership ability, including developing and empowering high-potential emerging professionals and leading, supporting, and managing transactions
  • Commitment to seeking and supporting different perspectives and backgrounds in the workplace
  • Ability to understand organizational goals and identify inorganic opportunities
  • Experience and proficiency in leading and prioritizing multiple projects and initiatives
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with senior executives and handle high-pressure settings confidently
  • Positive, enthusiastic attitude and capacity for learning quickly in an intensive, fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional financial and analytical skills, including strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statement analysis
  • Strong collaboration and project management skills in a multi-disciplinary, matrixed environment
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required
