About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the vision, strategy, and lifecycle of a global portfolio of AI-enabled Medical Writing products
- Define and communicate the product vision, multi-year strategy, and outcome-based roadmap
- Translate Medical Writing and clinical development priorities into reusable product capabilities
- Partner with business leaders, the PPD Digital Product Domain Head, technology teams, and delivery partners
- Build product-management practices and coach product owners and cross-functional contributors
- Conduct user discovery, workflow observation, user research, and Voice of Customer activities
- Define users, problems, use cases, requirements, acceptance criteria, and measurable success outcomes
- Ensure human-in-the-loop authoring and review, source traceability, version lineage, scientific integrity, and qualified-user accountability
- Represent the full content lifecycle from authoring through review, amendment, approval, reuse, submission, or archival
- Lead global, matrixed delivery across product, engineering, data science, UX, quality and validation, information security, operations, and vendors
- Own product scope, backlog priorities, release goals, acceptance criteria, definition of done, and readiness decisions
- Manage delivery partner and vendor outcomes, quality, timelines, dependencies, escalations, and stakeholder communication
- Partner on build, buy, and partner choices and secure, scalable, maintainable, reusable architectures
- Shape requirements for generative AI and automation approaches
- Establish product quality measures and evaluation approaches for content accuracy, completeness, consistency, critical errors, reviewer effort, and appropriate use
- Embed responsible AI, privacy, security, validation, auditability, and regulatory expectations into product decisions
- Ensure release evidence demonstrates intended-use fitness and clarifies limitations, fallbacks, and human-review responsibilities
- Own the lifecycle from opportunity discovery and business case through launch, production support, continuous improvement, and retirement or replacement
- Define and monitor adoption, user experience, document quality, cycle time, review effort, reliability, efficiency, and business-value measures
- Lead launch readiness, stakeholder communications, training, change enablement, and feedback loops
- Use production insights, support themes, defects, and user feedback to refine priorities
- Monitor external markets, customer needs, emerging AI capabilities, competitors, and regulatory expectations
- Develop value propositions and evidence-based business cases
- Represent the portfolio to senior internal and external audiences
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in life sciences, technology, business, or a related discipline
- Advanced degree preferred
- Progressive product-management experience, including senior leadership of complex digital products or portfolios, comparable to 10+ years’ experience
- Ownership of the full product lifecycle, including discovery, strategy, roadmap, delivery, launch, adoption, performance management, and value realization
- Experience in clinical research, drug development, Medical Writing, regulatory content, or another highly regulated life-sciences environment strongly preferred
- Experience delivering AI, machine-learning, analytics, or workflow-automation products
- Practical familiarity with generative AI highly desirable
- Experience leading global, cross-functional teams and third-party delivery partners in a matrixed organization
- Strong product leadership and product-management skills
- Working knowledge of clinical-document authoring and review, including quality, traceability, confidentiality, and regulatory expectations
- AI fluency sufficient to collaborate with technical teams and make informed decisions about model quality, evaluation, limitations, governance, and user experience
- Stakeholder and vendor leadership
- Customer orientation and discovery skills
- Commercial and analytical acumen, including business cases, portfolio prioritization, product metrics, and evidence-based value tracking
- Clear, persuasive written and verbal communication
- Sound judgment, resilience, and collaborative leadership style
- Ability to communicate, receive, and understand information and ideas with diverse groups of people
- Ability to work upright and stationary for typical working hours
- Ability to use and learn standard office equipment and technology with proficiency
- Ability to perform successfully under pressure while prioritizing and handling multiple projects or activities
- May require as-needed travel (0-20%)
