About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build, document, and continuously improve a binding planning and installation standard for heat pump projects in existing multi-family residential buildings
  • Review and approve plans and quotations submitted by installation partners
  • Conduct on-site kickoffs, regular site visits, and quality inspections
  • Clarify technical questions and changes during construction
  • Act as the technical interface for housing-sector customers, property owners, partners, specialist planners, and grid operators
  • Conduct and document interim and final inspections, including commissioning, hydraulic balancing, system adjustment, and functional testing
  • Manage defects through defect-free handover to customers and the service team
  • Standardize inspection and handover protocols as well as supporting documentation for BEG and KfW funding
  • Define and implement scalable end-to-end operations processes, from technical pre-check through handover to service
  • Define checklists, roles, responsibilities, milestones, and KPIs
  • Onboard, train, and audit installation partners from a technical perspective
  • Evaluate execution quality and determine the need for additional training, standard updates, or partner selection changes
  • Support technical sales through site assessments, technical feasibility reviews, and concept selection
  • Validate calculations, quantities, and effort estimates
  • Systematically evaluate completed projects in terms of cost, time, quality, and operational disruptions
  • Feed lessons learned back into standards, the product portfolio, and calculation principles
  • Monitor relevant standards, technology initiatives, and funding programs and incorporate them into the technical standard

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Completed degree, such as a B.Eng., M.Eng., or Dipl.-Ing., in supply engineering, building and energy technology, building services engineering, mechanical engineering, or a comparable field; alternatively, master craftsperson qualification in plumbing, heating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) or state-certified technician qualification in HVAC, combined with demonstrable planning and site management experience
  • At least five years of professional experience in the planning and/or installation of heating or heat pump systems
  • At least two years of experience with responsibility for projects, site management, or inspections and acceptance
  • Required: experience with multi-family residential buildings and/or larger systems exceeding 30 kW, including cascade systems
  • Experience establishing standards and processes is an advantage
  • Expertise in heat load calculations and hydraulics, including cascade systems, buffer tanks, and hydraulic balancing
  • Knowledge of domestic hot water concepts in accordance with DVGW W 551 and Legionella prevention requirements
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, grid connections, and sound insulation
  • Strong knowledge of the German Building Energy Act (GEG), VDI 4645, DIN EN 12831, and technical BEG requirements
  • Experience with site inspections, quality controls, formal acceptance procedures, and defect management in accordance with VOB/B
  • Experience managing external subcontractors
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Google Workspace
  • Experience with heat load and system design software, such as Hottgenroth/ETU or manufacturer tools from Vaillant, Viessmann, and Daikin
  • Basic knowledge of CAD and hydraulic schematics, such as AutoCAD or Revit, is an advantage
  • Knowledge of CRM systems such as Salesforce or Pipedrive, digital construction documentation and acceptance tools, and funding portals such as BEG, KfW, or BAFA is desirable
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30% to construction sites throughout Germany
  • Class B driver's license
  • German at least C1 level and English at least B2 level
