About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Guide patients and site staff through visit readiness, authentication, and real-time technical troubleshooting across care pathways
- Handle incoming inquiries via the cloud communications platform
- Address non-clinical requests and appropriately route clinical issues
- Coordinate specialist referrals and transmit complete documentation packages to regional health clinics
- Assist with booking diagnostic tests and confirm receipt
- Discuss navigation options with patients and route them accordingly
- Provide patients with clear and effective information and resources
- Capture all patient and case data appropriately in the provided software before closing cases
- Maintain objective, thorough, and precise documentation of patient interactions
- Protect confidential and protected health information
- Follow government-mandated and regulatory compliance protocols
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Successful completion of a college diploma, preferably in Medical Office or Business Administration, from an accredited educational institution
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work efficiently and in an organized manner
- Superior written and oral communication and presentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Ability to convey factual information and detailed explanations effectively
- Ability to make decisions and exercise good judgment, discretion, and initiative when dealing with confidential information and responding to inquiries
- Comfortable with technology and software
- Must be flexible to work weekends and statutory holidays
- Shift flexibility, including weekday, weekend, and/or holiday work
- Minimum 2 years of customer service experience in a healthcare environment and familiarity with the Nova Scotia healthcare system (considered an asset)
- Experience in a call center or triaging role (considered an asset)
- Bilingualism in English and French (considered an asset)
