About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide legal interpretation through research, analysis, and writing
  • Create editorial enhancements to help customers understand the context and developments of the law
  • Classify legal information using headnotes and other text
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date statutory text by analyzing and integrating enacted legislation
  • Review print and electronic product content for completeness and accuracy
  • Meet editorial publishing schedules and quality standards
  • Follow departmental and jurisdictional editorial styles and standards
  • Verify own and others’ work for accuracy, completeness, presentation, and organization
  • Develop legal knowledge and skills training to stay current on legal trends and developments
  • Attend and participate in team meetings
  • Prioritize own work and the work of others
  • Participate in employee evaluation processes, including feedback and self-evaluation
  • Develop knowledge of Thomson Reuters Legal publications, products, and competitors
  • Demonstrate competence in company-specific systems, Westlaw navigation, and online research tools

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • J.D. degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills
  • Exceptional editorial judgment and attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, organize, and communicate complex legal material
  • Understanding of editorial production process and requirements
  • Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with all contacts, both in and outside Thomson Reuters
  • Skilled in the use of personal computers and familiarity with word processing and online applications (preferred)
  • Ability to prioritize tasks/projects (preferred)
  • Ability to work successfully in a collaborative or team environment (preferred)
  • Competence in company-specific systems, Westlaw navigation, and online research tools
