About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Guide delivery of cutting-edge AI solutions from concept to production
- Shape technical direction for production services
- Build partnerships across the enterprise
- Own recruiting, career growth, and mentorship for Labs engineers
- Provide technical guidance on complex, high-impact projects with the research arm of Labs
- Champion well-managed software delivery practices
- Foster innovation, growth, and continuous improvement
- Own delivery of business-critical features for customer-facing applications
- Promote collaboration between scientists and engineers
- Drive the team's technical roadmap with product, science, and technical leadership
- Contribute to long-term technology strategy and scalable growth
- Align cross-functional stakeholders to strategy, vision, and roadmap
- Lead cross-functional project teams spanning research and engineering
- Set goals around talent development, diversity, and inclusion
- Mentor, coach, and develop team members
- Ensure the team delivers against clear goals and team OKRs
- Operate as a bridge between applied science and production engineering
Requirements
What you’ll need- A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or the equivalent
- Minimum of 7 years' software development experience
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage software development teams in an agile environment
- 1+ years in a people leadership and product development leadership role
- Experience spearheading technical development in a cross-functional setting, with responsibility for ML applications
- Close partnership experience with Applied Scientists, R&D groups, or similar
- A portfolio showcasing significant contributions to technology innovation
- Excellent project management, organization, and communication skills
- Experience contributing to and overseeing large-scale rollouts and infrastructure initiatives
- Expertise in several of: robust Python development, MLOps, containerization, cloud infrastructure (AWS and Azure)
- Experience in strategic planning, organizational development, and team scaling preferred
- Experience in advanced search and recommendation technology, real-time ML inference pipelines, microservices architecture, model monitoring and governance preferred
- Frontend development experience with React, Typescript, or Tailwind preferred
