Provide technical leadership, guidance, mentoring, and direction to software engineers at all levels
Set strategic direction, engineering standards, and technical standards across multiple projects or domains
Identify opportunities for AI-powered product features, enhancements, and product expansions
Assess emerging technologies and apply them to products
Foster continuous learning and development within the engineering team
Establish and enforce technical governance, coding standards, design patterns, and development methodologies
Develop the technical roadmap for the product line’s technology stack, infrastructure, and development processes
Assess technology risks, evaluate trade-offs, and make decisions aligned with long-term goals
Communicate technical concepts and decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Lead design reviews for scalability, performance, and maintainability
Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical issues
Diagnose problems, propose solutions, and guide teams toward resolution
Represent Thomson Reuters as a technical expert in industry forums, conferences, and events
Guide the business in evolving tax and accounting products within the modern AI landscape
Share insights on emerging trends and best practices

Requirements

What you’ll need

10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
Proven record developing scalable and resilient web-based products and solutions
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
Strong Computer Science fundamentals in data structures and algorithm design
Strong programming experience with the .NET stack
Strong object-oriented design and development skills
Understanding of object-oriented programming, SOLID, DRY, DDD, and core database design principles
Track record applying architecture and design patterns to complex business problems
Experience designing and developing customer-facing, high-traffic, performant REST APIs using ASP.NET or similar frameworks
Expertise with modern UI frameworks such as React or Angular, TypeScript, Node.js, and Python
Experience with AI technologies, including prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and fine-tuning
Experience with public cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, including EC2, S3, ALB, Auto Scaling, RDS, Lambda, SQS, and containers
Ability to influence across organizational boundaries, navigate ambiguity, make data-driven decisions, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
Ability to mentor others and promote best practices in DevOps, AI developer tools, and test-driven development
Willingness to learn and support a legacy codebase during transition to the next generation
Proven track record modernizing complex legacy web applications to cloud-native solutions
