About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Set the long-term technical vision for the ONESOURCE Income Tax portfolio
Design solutions supporting long-term business goals and business-unit strategy
Define architecture patterns, standards, and best practices for future applications
Design architecture for AI agents and expand MCP server capabilities
Identify opportunities for AI and other technologies to transform business processes
Lead secure-design practices and establish patterns and processes for security compliance
Help the team through SOC audits and third-party security testing
Guide design, maintenance, and modernization of applications and infrastructure on AWS and GCP
Lead complex, high-risk initiatives affecting a sub-business unit, function, or major product
Run development reviews and identify and fix weaknesses in existing designs
Lead selection, evaluation, rollout, and adoption of technologies and tools
Partner with Product Owners, ISRM/Security, the Product Management Office, and senior leadership
Represent engineering and negotiate solutions among key stakeholders
Present complex technical ideas and technology strategy to executives, managers, peers, and developers
Mentor and coach Senior and Lead engineers
Promote technical understanding and strengthen engineering culture
Collaborate across business units and recommend improvements to processes, products, and services
Contribute to standards, patents, new concepts, services, and technologies
Work with project managers to include technical status in project reports
Lead or support several projects simultaneously

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
10+ years of software engineering experience, including significant time in senior, lead, or principal-level technical leadership roles
Strong experience with the Microsoft stack (.NET / C#), Angular, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL
Hands-on experience with AWS and GCP, covering applications and infrastructure
Proven record designing and evolving large, high-availability enterprise applications, including modernizing legacy systems
Strong grounding in secure software design and application security, including Snyk or similar tools, penetration testing, and secure coding standards
Familiarity with SOC audits and engineering controls and evidence required for compliance
Experience leading through influence, setting technical direction, defining patterns and standards, and guiding teams without managing them directly
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience working with Product, Security, program management, and senior leadership
Business sense and ability to connect technical decisions to customer and business results
Preferred: background as a software or solutions architect
Preferred: experience in tax, accounting, finance, or a related regulated domain
Preferred: experience with agentic AI, LLM-based solutions, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers
Preferred: experience with GCP data warehousing solutions and Looker
Preferred: experience with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD practices
Preferred: experience designing and governing APIs used by external customers
Preferred: relevant cloud or security certifications
Preferred: external presence through conference talks, publications, patents, open-source contributions, or industry standards
Preferred: experience mentoring Senior and Lead engineers and building engineering culture across several teams
