About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Research, write, and maintain clear, current, and practical legal content aligned with market practice, customer needs, and business objectives

  • Use legal expertise to support Thomson Reuters’ AI-powered legal solutions
  • Use legal expertise and editorial skills to support internal AI editorial tools
  • Develop and maintain relationships with lawyers and industry groups
  • Contribute to plans for future banking and finance law content
  • Provide specialist legal knowledge to product management, sales, marketing, and technology functions
  • Work under the direction of the Head of the Commercial Real Estate and Banking and Finance Team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Solicitor qualified in Australia
  • At least 5 years PQE experience working as a banking lawyer in a top- or mid-tier private practice or in-house team
  • Background and career experience in commercial banking and finance transactions, including drafting and negotiating documentation
  • Experience in practice areas including general corporate finance, commercial real estate finance, construction finance, acquisition finance, debt capital markets, securitisation, or derivatives
  • Good working knowledge of taking security over various asset classes in Australia
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Passion for writing about legal practice accurately, concisely, and in plain English
  • Ability to work effectively independently and in teams
  • Good technical skills and ability to utilise tools, including generative AI technologies
  • Adaptability and flexibility to work on diverse projects and tasks
  • Curiosity about the intersection of AI and legal practice
  • Experience using AI tools in legal work
  • Some knowledge of online research databases
  • Proven ability to work with ambiguity and in a matrixed environment
  • Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate with diverse teams
