About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, develop, and evolve next-generation cloud-native platforms
  • Contribute to technical strategy and champion engineering excellence
  • Build scalable, reliable, secure, and cost-effective infrastructure for product development teams
  • Launch backend services powering generative AI agents and orchestration systems into production
  • Collaborate with AI/ML engineers, frontend developers, product managers, and SREs
  • Build AI-native products for tax, accounting, and audit professionals
  • Build and maintain golden-path reference implementations for automated build, test, and deploy workflows
  • Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Playwright, and Snyk
  • Develop Go command-line tools and services to streamline developer workflows
  • Establish and improve DORA metrics, including deployment frequency and change failure rate
  • Lead production infrastructure design and implementation using Kubernetes, Vercel, AWS, GCP, and AI platforms
  • Establish and enforce platform security practices using multi-cloud strategies and CNCF solutions
  • Design and implement monitoring, logging, and alerting using Datadog and LLM observability tools
  • Set up processes and documentation supporting 150+ product managers, researchers, and engineers
  • Align product, development, and operations teams on business objectives
  • Mentor team members and influence architectural decisions
  • Foster experimentation and continuous improvement in AI technologies and methodologies
  • Monitor industry trends and advocate for relevant cloud, platform engineering, and SRE practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8+ years of experience in backend development, platform engineering, production engineering, or site reliability engineering (SRE)
  • Experience developing, deploying, and maintaining a backend service and associated client interface for product and engineering staff
  • Deep experience troubleshooting low level DNS, TCP, IP, and TLS protocols
  • Extensive hands-on experience with cloud-native services
  • Proficiency with container registries, Kubernetes/ECS, object storage, managed PostgreSQL, serverless functions, networking, identity and access management, infrastructure-as-code, secrets management, and pub/sub messaging systems
  • Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, related field, or equivalent experience
  • Preferred: Fluency in Go, Python, Rust, or another systems-level language
  • Preferred: Experience with Terraform and CUE
  • Preferred: Experience with AI-driven systems, agent-based architectures, LLM evaluation tools, and AI APIs such as OpenAI and Anthropic
  • Preferred: Experience owning SOC 2 compliant systems end to end
  • Preferred: Knowledge of vector databases, embeddings, or search-based AI
  • Preferred: Strong opinions on infrastructure design, end-to-end testing strategies, automation, middleware, and RPC/REST API design patterns
