About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide employees and family members with short-term, solution-focused services, including assessment, short-term problem solving, community-resource referrals, and emergency information and referrals
  • Conduct face-to-face or telehealth sessions during designated business-day times
  • Maintain counseling confidentiality in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations
  • Disclose information to management only with the employee's written permission specifying the information and recipients
  • Provide management consultation, employee and supervisor orientations, presentations, and seminars at the assigned site
  • Participate as a liaison and subject matter expert on agency disaster mental health and crisis response teams when requested and scheduling allows
  • Participate in agency meetings, including installation Community Action Team and Community Action Board meetings
  • Collaborate with installation helping agencies
  • Provide critical incident response and notify the Contracting Officer's Representative or designated official within 24 hours of any critical incident
  • Post schedules and instructions for accessing services during absences
  • Work under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Supervisor
  • Work Monday through Friday during DoD core hours of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM at an assigned designated location
  • May work at Government alternate locations during emergencies and emergency exercises

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum five (5) years of clinical experience after receiving the graduate degree that qualifies the counselor for the position
  • Demonstrated capability to complete accurate bio-psycho-social assessments, including substance abuse assessments
  • Counselors performing phone counseling must have specialized experience and training in phone counseling
  • Master's and/or doctoral degree from an accredited college or university, recognized by the corresponding professional association(s), in a clinical mental health field
  • Current state license or state certification to practice as a mental health practitioner in the state where practice takes place; where unavailable, certification from a recognized national certification organization or board
  • Must be able to practice at the independent level without state-mandated clinical supervision
  • Must be 100% dedicated to this contract, with a signed commitment letter required
  • Must have, or be covered by, professional liability insurance of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence and $3,000,000 aggregate
  • Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card, requiring an NCIC check, favorable NACI, and favorable FBI fingerprint check
  • Must have, at a minimum, a public trust investigation
  • Must sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement
  • May not accept as private clients any person, or family member of a person, who contacts the counselor through the Employee Assistance Program office
  • Position is contingent upon contract award
