About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the long-term product roadmap as part of a larger business strategy
  • Develop product strategy through analysis of personas, use cases, customer benefits, and solution value propositions
  • Ensure business strategies are executed through product roadmaps
  • Lead collaboration to manage and prioritize product roadmaps and releases across multiple products
  • Resolve conflicts constructively
  • Ensure product teams understand required business outcomes and connect them to broader business goals
  • Identify and track key performance metrics and ensure KPIs deliver business value
  • Ensure roadmap outcomes fit capacity constraints and are prioritized to maximize customer value
  • Engage regularly with customers and users to uncover needs and translate them into tested and refined product hypotheses
  • Collaborate across product teams to develop and roll out operational plans
  • Research industry best practices and trends
  • Apply advanced knowledge of the business, products, processes, and Product Management
  • Mentor and guide Product Owners
  • Model Thrivent’s leadership competencies: courage, collaboration, and commitment
  • Support continuous improvement, employee engagement, client commitment, and Thrivent’s purpose, promise, values, trust, and reputation
  • Supervise large, complex cross-functional product teams without direct personnel supervisory responsibility

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 7-9 years relevant business experience, including in a product owner role or similar
  • Understanding of iterative development fundamentals and software development processes and procedures
  • Expertise in Agile Product Management, stakeholder management, market and user research, technology management, and process design
  • High level of organization and attention to detail
  • Passion for and understanding of new technology and trends
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and influence skills across all organizational levels
  • Strong facilitation and executive communications skills
  • Preferred: Certified Product Manager or similar certification
  • Preferred: Prior experience leading projects
  • Preferred: Experience developing business cases, roadmaps, and business unit strategy
  • Preferred: Ability to manage and resolve conflicting priorities
  • Preferred: Experience developing and delivering product strategy using value, outcomes, metrics, and measurements
  • Preferred: Experience with product management tools, techniques, and principles across discovery, design, build, release, and measure cycles
  • Preferred: Experience leading projects or initiatives
  • Preferred: Experience with user interface design and usability best practices
  • Preferred: Experience working in large, complex organizational initiatives
  • Preferred: Experience with MS Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Preferred: Experience using product management tools for roadmaps, backlogs, and customer feedback
  • Preferred: Financial management experience administering budgets across multiple products and ensuring return on investment
