About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute day-to-day transactional processing, focusing on complex, high-value, and non-routine accounts payable transactions
  • Investigate and resolve escalated invoice discrepancies, payment issues, and vendor inquiries
  • Perform account reconciliations and research and resolve discrepancies
  • Process transactions and ensure accurate and timely general ledger recordings
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation for financial reporting
  • Maintain and analyze transaction records, reconciliations, process documentation, and supporting financial data
  • Support financial reporting, internal controls, audits, and remediation activities
  • Perform accounting activities and resolve routine accounting and control issues
  • Support system upgrades and enhancements by executing sample invoice and payment batches
  • Monitor shared inboxes and departmental communications and track inquiries
  • Participate in team responsibility rotations, cross-training, business continuity, and process improvement
  • Monitor transaction flows and key metrics to maintain service levels and processing quality
  • Support process changes and updated procedures
  • Prepare monthly KPI reports and risk indicators
  • Model Thrivent’s leadership competencies and support its purpose, values, employee engagement, and continuous improvement culture

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Business Administration or other related course of study
  • Minimum 3+ years' equivalent work experience in accounting or bookkeeping
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills to deal effectively with internal and external business partners remotely or in person
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and office tools
  • Experience working in a shared services or high-volume processing environment preferred
  • Demonstrated experience communicating with a broad range of stakeholders, delivering concise, clear and timely responses preferred
