About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Take early People products to production and grow them into a suite of standalone products, plugins, and everyday tools
Build experiences providing personalized guidance, proactive support, and approved actions
Redesign workflows across Workday, Ashby, and other systems from approved headcount through onboarding
Build APIs and MCP connectors enabling AI tools to safely access context and complete workflows
Design permissioning for confidential People data, including identity, authorization, model access, retention, approvals, and audit
Partner with People Products & Data on instrumentation and AI evaluations
Create reusable building blocks for People team members to build simpler tools safely
Own products across React, TypeScript, service code, and data models
Set technical direction with non-engineering partners by shaping ambiguous problems, challenging scope, and proposing simpler solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of professional software engineering experience
Experience owning systems end to end from ambiguous problem to production
Strong full-stack skills with React and TypeScript
Solid backend engineering skills; ability to pick up Go, PHP, or Python
Working knowledge of relational and non-relational data stores such as Postgres and DynamoDB
Knowledge of authentication, authorization, least-privilege access, auditability, and privacy-aware design
Experience building internal tools or business systems
Experience integrating with SaaS platforms through their APIs
Product judgment to determine what to build and what to cut
Comfort operating autonomously as the primary engineer on a product area
Track record of raising the technical bar for colleagues
