About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Take early People products to production and grow them into a suite of experiences spanning standalone products, plugins, and everyday tools
Redesign workflows across Workday, Ashby, and other systems, from approved headcount through onboarding
Build APIs and connectors, including MCP connectors, enabling AI tools to safely access context and complete workflows
Design permissioning for confidential People data, including identity, person-level authorization, model access, retention, approvals, and audit
Partner with People Products & Data on instrumentation and AI evaluations
Create reusable building blocks for People team members to safely build simpler tools
Own shipped work across React, TypeScript, service code, and data models
Set technical direction with non-engineering partners by shaping ambiguous problems, challenging scope, and proposing simpler approaches
Collaborate with TPMs, HR systems analysts, data scientists, data engineers, and other partners

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including owning systems end to end from ambiguous problem to production
Strong full-stack skills: React and TypeScript on the frontend, and solid backend engineering
Ability to pick up Go, PHP, or Python
Working knowledge of relational and non-relational data stores such as Postgres and DynamoDB
Experience with authentication and authorization, least-privilege access, auditability, and privacy-aware design
Experience building internal tools or business systems and integrating with SaaS platforms through their APIs
Product judgment to determine what to build and what to cut
Comfort operating with a high degree of autonomy as the primary engineer on a product area
Track record of raising the technical bar for colleagues
